About St. Matthew P. B. Church
Our History
The Saint Matthew Church family has been chosen, anointed and ordained by the Lord Jesus Christ, who set us apart to raise the standard in the Madison County area. We are here to carry out and fulfill the mandate of the great commission of our Lord Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Saint Matthew P.B. church was established in the Brandon Town Community. In this community, there was only a one room, gray shingled building which served as a school, church and a recreation building. A few Saints belonging to the Indian Creek Church, who lived in the community, saw the need to establish a community church and in 1904 with enthusiastic prayers, and plenty of hard-work, the community decided to build a church and it was at this point that Saint Matthew P. B. Church was established. The church was named after the late Rev. Frank Matthews, Jr., who also served as the first pastor.
Our Mission
The Saint Matthew Primitive Baptist Church, by the grace of God, exists to do, and become all we can do, to worship God in spirit and truth; proclaim the good news of salvation to all of humanity; to faithfully witness, and share our faith in Christ with family, friends and abroad; to further educate and nurture Christian growth in discipleship; to be servants of the Lord Jesus Christ through service, mission and evangelism; to dwell with all members of humanity in Christian love and to do good to all men especially to them of the household of faith and to love one another as Christ loves us.
Goal: To be the church of Christ’s desire, as unto the apple of His eye, being justified by faith without a spot or wrinkle.
Our Ministries
Under the leadership of Pastor Robert L. Rogers Jr., the Saint Matthew Primitive Baptist Church offers a variety of ministries and programs for all ages, including The Intercessors Ministry, My Brother’s Keeper Ministry, the Ushers and Greeters Ministry, Safety and Security Ministry, and Media and Marketing Ministry. Additionally, SMC has an Evangelism and Outreach Ministry, Food-Bank and Food-Service Ministry along with mid-week bible studies and Sunday morning worship service. Our ministries are designed to help our members grow in their faith and serve others in our community.
